Water Relations Bibliography

Sujan Singh, Singh S. 1999. Effect of edaphic and climatic factors on the development of mycorrhiza in tree nurseries (part I): effect of soil moisture, soil texture, and temperature. Mycorrhiza News 11:2-10.

The effect of soil moisture, soil texture and temperature on the efficacy of mycorrhizal fungi is discussed, with particular reference to tree nurseries. The effect of soil moisture is considered in relation to: excess moisture in soil; tolerance of mycorrhizal fungi and plants to water stress; photosynthetic rate and stomatal conductance; growth parameters; and vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae. The effects of soil texture and types on vesicular_arbuscular mycorrhizal and on ectomycorrhizal fungi are outlined. The effects of soil and air temperature on the efficiency of mycorrhizas are also discussed.
