AU: Call-CA
SO: Dissertation-Abstracts-International,-B. 1982, 42: 9, 3521-3522.

AB: Seedlings of Atriplex canescens, Artemisia tridentata, Chrysothamnus nauseosus and Sarcobatus vermiculatus were inoculated with the vesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi Glomus fasciculatus and G. mosseae. After 6 months, A. tridentata and C. nauseosus showed high levels of infection, A. canescens showed low levels and S. vermiculatus was uninfected. The shrubs were then planted out into processed shale and disturbed native soil in the field. Mycorrhizal plants took up more water and P and had greater ht. and shoot biomass than non-mycorrhizal shrubs; they also utilized low levels of applied P more effectively.
