TI: Mycorrhizal influences in cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.) under different levels of soil phosphorus and drought.
AU: Faria-RM-de
SO: Dissertation-Abstracts-International,-B-Sciences-and-Engineering. 1985, 46: 1, 20B.
LA: English
AB: Mycorrhiza significantly increased seed yields, DM production, leaf area, leaf P concn and total uptake of P, Cu and Zn only when cowpeas were grown under low soil P conditions; addition of monocalcium phosphate to the soil gave greater increases in growth and P nutrition. Normal levels of mycorrhizal infection were achieved with high soil P under moderate drought. When soil P levels were low to moderate, mycorrhizal plants recovering from water stress had greater rates of net photosynthesis and leaf conductance than those under high soil P levels.

TI: Physiology of legume-rhizobium-VA mycorrhiza symbiosis under water stress.
AU: Pena-C-JI
SO: Dissertation-Abstracts-International,-C-European-Abstracts. 1985, 46: 2, 361-362.
LA: English
AB: Medicago sativa plants grown in P deficient soil were inoculated with Rhizobium meliloti and/or the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae and subjected to water stress (down to -0.7 MPa of soil water potential) after 40 days. G. mosseae increased nitrogenase activity and N fixation, where leaf water potential was <-0.5 MPa, and also caused changes in stomatal conductance, photosynthesis, phosphorus uptake and root:shoot DW ratio. Tripartite symbiosis appeared to adapt to water stress conditions.
